Re-Tractable Ratcheting Tie-Down Straps Review – etrailer.com

0 Re Tractable Ratcheting Tie Down Straps Review etrailer.comhttp://www.etrailer.com/tv-review-erickson-ratchet-straps-EM31302.aspx

Videos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer
installation instructions and specs for complete information.

Today we are going to review part number EM31302 from Erickson Manufacturing. These straps are 1 inch wide by 10 feet long and these Ratchet Straps have a self storing feature for the straps. We will show you how it works. It is pretty easy. First off, pull that latch up and then you can pull out the strap that you need. And whatever you do not use gets automatically wheeled up. And when you reach the position that you want to start tightening down, you can go ahead and just use it as a regular ratchet. And that supplies the tension and it wont go anywhere. It is very simple, very easy to use. This does have a working load of 400 pounds. It has a breaking strength of 1200 pounds. 0:38

And with this part number, you get two per package. And we will go ahead and install this on a tie-down on a typical load in the back of a pickup truck to give you a better idea of how it works. We will go ahead and attach these straps to our truck and our load here. Start in the back. We will take our hook and go to our tie-down location on our truck. And we will take the latch and pull it all the way back so it releases it. And this has about the tension of a seat belt really. And let us go and put it over our object here and back down to our other tie-down point. Alright, and then you can take it, our latch, and just pull it back down and pull a little button too. Pull it down and after it goes down, go ahead and ratchet it tight. 1:19

Alright, we will do the other one the same way. And we are going to leave this on here, that is different. What is nice about the tension here is that, just by yourself you dont have to have someone else holding the hook on there. The tension of the strap itself is more than enough to hold it in place. We are going to just ratchet it down tight. In a few minutes, we already have our load tightened down to the truck. It definitely will not go anywhere. It does have a 1200 pound breaking load limit. For operating load limit right now, they are good for 400 pounds. And there you have it for part number EM31302 from Erickson. 2:08

installation instructions and specs for complete information.
This is a 1″ x 10′, 900 pound rated retractable ratchet strap from Erikson manufacturing. This is a really nice device whose claim to fame is that with conventional ratchet straps you have a length of strap left over when you’re done tying it down. Most of the time you take the excess and shove it down or tie it up somewhere. This product alleviates all that with its self storage system. As you can see it comes with two conventional hooks, the ratchet itself and the wind up mechanism. We’re going to show you by tying this box down the typical application. Basically you take your one hook and attach it to your tying point. Then take the rest of your strap and pull it to the other side. Make sure that neither of these are twisted as it puts additional stress on the straps that you don’t need. At this point you take your lever here, push it back and it ratchets it down tight. At that point your load is secured and won’t go anywhere. There you have it for part # E01331, the retractable Ratchet Strap from Erikson manufacturing.

Ratchet Straps w Twisted Snap Hooks – etrailer.com

0 Ratchet Straps w Twisted Snap Hooks etrailer.comhttp://www.etrailer.com/tv-demo_erikson_ratchet_strap_01324.aspx

Videos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer
installation instructions and specs for complete information.
This is a 1-1/2 inch x 15 ft. long 4,000 pound Ratchet Strap assembly with the twisted snap hooks. This device is intended for anybody carrying a heavy cargo load on their trailer or flat bed pickup truck. Again this is good for 4000 pounds, so you could use this for the heavy tool box, lumber or what not. This is approaching industrial duty materials. Again if you’re not approaching that kind of weight, the 15 ft. length will help out in just about any tie down situation, even for a weekend warrior. What we have here is a nice heavy duty ratchet assembly. As you can see you pull this button back and it releases forward. To ratchet it down you simply push down. As you can see here this center portion of the axle, the strap will go here. To operate it you pull the strap through, take up your slack and then you ratchet everything tight. We’ll demonstrate its use on a typical application.
We have our assembly here, we’ll just go ahead and tie down this box. We’ll start with the ratchet end on the left hand side then we’ll move on to the right hand side. At this point we can thread our strap through the center axle, and pull our slack through. Pull all of your excess through, this you’ll have to tie up in your own fashion. Now you hold everything in place and ratchet it together. You pull it flat and there you have it, your cargo is properly secured. Also you’ll notice the hooks are shaped differently from the others. The normal flat hook would be parallel with this strap here. What would happen is if the hook were that way you would get a twisting with the strap which would give extra tension on the strap. With this twisted hook it allows the strap to stay flat on the load, less wear and tear and more distribution of the forces. There you have it for part # 01324 the 1-12 inch x 15 ft. ratchet straps with twisted hooks from Erikson manufacturing.

Car Tie-Down w Adjustable Axle Strap – etrailer.com

0 Car Tie Down w Adjustable Axle Strap etrailer.comhttp://www.etrailer.com/tv-demo_erikson_car_tie_down_ratchet_strap_08424.aspx

Videos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer
installation instructions and specs for complete information.
This is a 2 inch by 8 foot long, 10,000 pound rated tie down with a built in axle strap. We’ll show you some of the finer points of this device and how it works. Starting with the ratchet, it’s slightly better than most as it has a bit longer handle for extra leverage. This unit also has larger hooks compared to others, the same applies to the axle strap. Some models have this coming straight out in the hook, which makes for a twist in the webbing. With this model here the hook is actually twisted and does one continual loop basically with no twisting. This axle strap is adjustable in the length here with this buckle. So you can make it as large or small as you need to. We’ll now demonstrate how this works.
We have our little mock up here and we’ll start off with the axle strap itself. You can see the red padded section touches your axle and we’ll go here to the ratchet and tie it down where you want. Once you have that accomplished it’s a simple matter of tying it down and taking up your slack. You can see this is still protecting your axle and it’s well secured to your axle here and your car will be properly secured. There you have it for part # 08424 from Erikson Manufacturing.

Videos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer
installation instructions and specs for complete information.

Today on this boat trailer we are going to install part number DL24242 from Dutton-Lainson, this is their 2 inch wide by 20 foot long Winch Strap and this is rated to 4,000 pounds. The first thing we need to do is remove the old strap. You can see at the very end there is a bolt that got bent up so we are going to have to remove that. We are going to reinstall the strap and go through it and install the nut. The nut stays on the gear side. When you install the bolt keep it as close to the center as possible and just tighten it down to where it meets, you do not have to really crush it or anything. Then you can just wind up your strap. There you have it for part number DL24242.

Erickson Ratchet Straps Review – etrailer.com

2 Erickson Ratchet Straps Review etrailer.comhttp://www.etrailer.com/tv-review-erickson-ratchet-straps-EM69627.aspx

Videos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer
installation instructions and specs for complete information.

Today we are going to review part number EM69627 from Erickson. This is their 2 inch by 27 foot long Ratchet Strap. It is rated up to 10,000 pounds with the strap wrapper. What the strap wrapper does is it lets you stow the extra strap that is always left over whether it be a little bit or a lot in some cases you do not have it flying in the wind or you do not have to tie it in a knot somewhere. 00:21

The handle itself is upgraded with a molded rubber covering over it. It is easy to grip so your hands do not slip. Even the hooks themselves are covered in a plastic material that keeps them protected for a very long time. 00:31

It is very simple device how it works. Basically the strap goes through the center of it. This part right here and just pull it tight as far as you can until you take up all of the slack. Now we have pulled the tension as tight as possible by hand and of course you are going to have a little bit of slack in here but that is fine. And then what you want to do is release it they all have a little release on the inside here. And then you can go ahead and simply ratchet it and it tightens down to get it as tight as you want. 01:07

Now let us go ahead and demonstrate this on a typical application. Give you a better idea on how it works. Alright we will go ahead and demonstrate the strap here on a typical load. We will take our hooks and attach them to the tie down points on the truck. And we will put our ratchet end on the tie down hook. Now we will take our strap long end and go through the ratchet, stay on the same side as the loop with the strap wrapper. Pull it on through. And go ahead and ratchet it tight. Then we will take our excess here, wrap it up in a nice loop, and then we will use our strap wrapper to hold it in place. And it is ready to go. All right, with that that finishes our review of part number EM69627 from Erickson.

Retractable Ratchet Straps with Push Button Release Review – etrailer.com

Posted in Ratchet Strap on January 12th, 2011 by admin – Be the first to comment

2 Retractable Ratchet Straps with Push Button Release Review etrailer.comhttp://www.etrailer.com/tv-Review-Ratchet-Strap-34414.aspx

Videos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer
installation instructions and specs for complete information.

Today we are going to review part number 34414 from Erickson Manufacturing. What we have here is a 6 foot retractable tie down. A few specs about the tie down: it is 2 inches wide and 6 foot long and the texture of the strap feels much like a seat belt. The working load limit on this is 1,333 pounds. It has a maximum load capacity of 4,000 pounds. And also, the hooks are covered in a plastic material, so you do not mar up anything you are tying down. For instance, when you wrap this around the handle bars of a motorcycle or something on the frame of your vehicle, or whatever you do not want to get scratched up. :39

The great thing about this product is that the straps are self storing, you do not have any extra strap flapping in the wind, or have to worry about tying them down before you hit the road. What we are going to use this on is a stack of tires. We are working with a trailer that is actually 6 foot 5inches, so what we will do is use 2 straps, which come in the kit. :57

First off, you want to leave the ratchet handle completely flat, and then push down on the red button which releases the strap and then go ahead and pull out the strap. Take the one end and attach it to the load of tires, hook it to the center and pull the rest of the strap out and hook up to our other tie down point. Then take up our slack, we can use it as a conventional ratchet. Push the button down once again to unlatch it, and go ahead and take up the slack. Lets go ahead and put one on the other side to equalize the pressure. Then we will have our tires safely tied down. 1:50

Alright, now you can see that we have our ratchet reeled up and we do not have any extra strap blowing around in the breeze. In a few simple steps we are already done with our review of part number 34414 from Erickson Manufacturing.

Flat Hook Ratchet Strap with Tie-Down Tamer Review – etrailer.com

2 Flat Hook Ratchet Strap with Tie Down Tamer Review etrailer.comhttp://www.etrailer.com/tv-Review-Ratchet-Strap-EM58691.aspx

Videos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer
installation instructions and specs for complete information.

Alright, today we are going to review part number EM58691 from Erickson Manufacturing. What we have here is a 2 inch wide by 27 foot long tie down strap. This is rated for a maximum load of 10,000 pounds with a working strength of actually 3,300 pounds. Alright, and what is nice about this is it has a built in tie down tamer. And basically what it is you can see here, it has a coil and the end of the handle here can take up the extra slack. You always have some left over. Instead of having it flapping in the breeze or tying it into a knot onto itself. With the rest of you slack, this is a little bit more manageable way of having it. 0:37

Okay, we will go ahead and cover the construction of this part. I will start off with the hook right here. I will just pull it out. And the hooks that it comes with is a flat style hook. And that will just grab the edge of your trailer or whatever tie down point you have. And the strap measurements, from here to here is 2 inches and the rest of the strap here that goes into the reel is 27 feet. Alright, next we will discuss the ratchet assembly itself here. It works just like any other ratchet. However, the handle is a little bit bigger, obviously to hold up the rest of the strap when it is not in use. And then on the other side of the strap, we have the second flat hook. From around about 16 inches of strap and hook total on the other side. 1:22
